Election Commission (EC) office here will deploy 14 executive magistrates in the city from tomorrow to monitor the activities of candidates in the upcoming Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) election.
Returning Officer (RO) Md. Hasanuzzaman told BSS that his office has already received a letter for appointing the magistrates.
"If any candidate of the upcoming CCC election violates the election code of conduct, they will be dealt with seriously," said the RO.
Meanwhile, Chattogram Metropolitan Police prohibited holding processions and staging showdown during the collection and submission of the candidatures.
The CCC election will be held on March 29. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on March 1 and the last date of candidacy withdrawal is March 9 while election symbols will be allocated on the same day.
EC office has already issued directives to remove all kinds of banners, posters in favour of the respective candidates from the city areas.
