5 arrested BNP leaders sent to jail
The court set Sunday as the day for hearing the arrestees’ bail plea
A Dhaka court on Friday sent five BNP leaders to jail in a case filed over their alleged involvement in injuring police officers during a clash.
Earlier on the same day, the BNP leaders were arrested from the National Press Club.
Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khayer Jessi passed the order when police produced them before the court.
Sub-inspector Mahmudur Rahman, acting general recording officer of the Shahbag police station, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.
The arrestees are – ABM Mosharraf Karim, Advocate Alamgir, Advocate Touhid, Advocate Firoz Kibria and Advocate Riyad.
The court also set Sunday as the day for hearing the arrestees' bail plea.
