Terming the Father of the Nation as the historical hero, the minister said “Bangabandhu is a great hero, he does not belong to any political party. We never want to make him a leader of any particular party.”
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said all the political parties except the anti-liberation forces will get invitation in the Bangabandhu's birth centenary programme.
"All the political parties, including the BNP, will get invitation in the Bangabandhu's birth centenary programme…But the anti-liberation elements will not be allowed in the programme," he said while addressing a view-exchange meeting at Awami League President Sheikh Hasina's political office at Dhanmondi here.
Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, said the BNP also was invited to the Mujib Year's countdown programme, but they didn't turn up. It was a matter of BNP as to why they did not join the programme, he added.
Similarly, the BNP will get invitation in the Bangabandhu's birth centenary programme, Quader said.

The programme is open for all irrespective of their political affiliations, said the ruling party leader, adding that the main theme of the programme is to present the country as a brand before the world.
