Banani-Airport Road traffic at a standstill
The sand-filled truck lost control and crashed around 7am today
A sand-laden truck crashed on the Banani-Airport Road this morning, causing a huge tailback.
Ashikur Rahman, assistant commissioner of Airport Traffic Zone, said the sand-filled truck lost control and crashed around 7am today and sand from the truck spilled out on the street.
"We do not have lift-trucks large enough to lift a vehicle of this bulk and size. We have employed workers to clear off the sand so we can use a regular forklift to lift up the truck once it is lighter in weight," he said.
The movement of vehicles on the road came to a halt after the accident. However, it is expected the road can be cleared off within an hour, said Airport Traffic Zone authorities.
