Benazir Ahmed appointed as new IGP
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General Benazir Ahmed has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) today.
A circular of the Home Ministry made the disclosure today.
The order will be effective from the April 15, this year as tenure of present IGP Mohammad Javed Patwary will expire on April 13.
The chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun will replace Benazir as RAB DG.
Benazir Ahmed joined Bangladesh Police as an Assistant Police Superintendent (ASP) in 1988.
He has served in various important positions in the country's law enforcement agencies, including as chief of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
He has been DG of RAB since January 2015.
