6 of a family die on road while returning from hospital with a newborn
Highway police have detained the bus of Shahjalal Paribahan from the spot
Six members of a family among seven people died on the spot after a speedy bus rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh's Tarakanda today.
Abul Khayer, officer-in-charge of Tarakanda Police Station said, "A Dhaka-bound bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Sunday noon in Gachtola Bazar adjacent area of Mymensing-Natrakona highway. The auto-rickshaw driver and six passengers died on the spot."
Police, fire service and local people rushed to the spot hearing about the accident and recovered the dead bodies. They handed over the bodies to Shyamganj Highway Police Station.
Highway police have seized the killer bus of Shahjalal Paribahan from the spot.
Shyamganj Police Station Inspector Noyon Das said, "The deceased have been identified as Maulana Farooq, his newborn daughter, wife Masuma Begum, sister Julekha Khatun, brother Nijamuddin, sister in law Josna Begum."
"All of them hailed from Agiakanda area of Netrokona. Their family members have been informed about the incident," he added.
Anwar Hossain, cousin of Maulana Farooq said, "Masuma gave birth to a child five days ago in Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. The accident occurred while returning from the hospital with the newborn child and other family members."
