Columnist Syed Abul Maksud is no more
He passed away around 7:09pm
Renowned columnist Syed Abul Maksud has died at the Square Hospital of Dhaka this evening. He was 74.
He breathed his last around 7:09pm, the hospital director Wahi Uddin Mahmud told The Business Standard, adding that he was brought there dead.
Earlier, Syed Abul Maksud started to feel breathing complications at his residence and was immediately taken to the hosptial.
Syed Abul Maksud was born on 23 October, 1946. He, also a research scholar, essayist, and writer, was awarded with Bangla Academy Literary Award in 1995.
His essays on literature, society, culture and politics are much appreciated.
He carried out substantive research works on the lives of famous litterateurs such as Rabindranath Tagore, Buddhadeva Bose, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, Syed Waliullah. His Journal of Germany is a popular travel book
