Community Policing Day tomorrow
All units of police have taken all-out preparation to celebrate the day
Community police are playing a vital role to prevent crime and maintain law and order. From the grassroots level, they provide information that helps police arrest criminals quickly.
Community Policing is a concept that allows police and community to work together, aiming at making the society free from terrorism, militancy, stalking, drug abuse and child marriage.
The Community Policing Day will be observed across the country tomorrow. All units of police have taken all-out preparation to celebrate the day.
Since 2017, the day is observed every year to make people aware of the community policing and its benefit.
Sohel Rana, assistance inspector general of police, told The Business Standard, "In controlling criminal activities and solving criminal cases, community police are helping police in different ways."
Marking the day, a colourful procession will be brought out from the Rajarbag Police lines. Later, a discussion will be held there. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Inspector General of Police Dr Javed Patwary will take part in the programmes, Obaidur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Community police members solved over 82,000 of different conflicts in 2015, over 1 lakh in 2016, 1.2 lakh in 2017, 1.27 lakh in 2018, according to the Police Headquarters.
