The Anti-Corruption Commission did not make any move against Bacchu, despite the High Court order
The parliamentary body on law expressed concern over Bangladesh's corruption watchdog's inaction against Sheikh Abdul Hai Bacchu for his involvement in Basic Bank scam.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) did not make any move against Bacchu, despite the High Court order.
The parliamentary body has also decided to ensure the presence of the ACC Chairman Iqbal Mahmood and respective investigation officer in its next meeting.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on law held on Thursday at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, a member of the parliamentary committee, informed the parliamentary body about the High Court directives about the Basik Bank scam. The issue was not an agenda of the meeting, though, said sources.
In connection with the loan scam, the High Court reasserted its earlier directive on the ACC to try Bacchu and three Basic Bank top officials on June 11 last year.
