Attack on PM: 7 convicts surrender before court
The court sent them to jail following their surrender
Seven convicted fugitives have surrendered before a Pabna court on Sunday, in a case filed over attack on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 1994.
The convicts -- Aminul Islam, Md Robi, Mamun and Abul Kalam Azad were sentenced to life in prison, while -- Rono, Chand Ali and Humayan Kabir were sentenced to ten-year imprisonment each.
The court sent them to jail following their surrender.
On July 3, Pabna district trial court sentenced nine to death and 25 others to life in prison for an attack on a train carrying the incumbent prime minister 24 years ago.
The then opposition leader, a passenger train carrying Sheikh Hasina was attacked at Pakshi Railway Station in Pabna on September 23, 1994.
The attackers fired shots and hurled bombs at the train injuring scores of people, though Sheikh Hasina remained unhurt.
