High Court grants bail to 12-year-old human-trafficking accused
The case was filed against Alauddin when he was only six years old
The High Court has granted bail to a 12-year-old boy accused in a case filed over human trafficking.
Alauddin was granted bail for eight-weeks today after he surrendered before the court.
A division bench comprising Justice Obaidul Hasan and Justice AKM Jahirul Haque expressed their astonishment while passing the order.
"The court has directed Deputy Attorney General Saifullah Khaled to inquire the details of the case," said defence lawyer Jaman Aktar Bulbul.
"It is absurd that the case was filed against Alauddin when he was only six years old", Bulbul added.
According to the first information report (FIR), Alauddin, a fourth-grade madrasa student hailed from Ramu, took Tk2 lakh from the plaintiff.
However, Alauddin's neighbour Nurul Islam filed a case in 2018 with the Woman and Children Repression Tribunal in Chattogram against six people over a land dispute in 2016.
