The land surveyor demanded Tk70, 000 from a service seeker for providing him a digital khatian
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested a surveyor of Anwara upazila Settlement Office (land office) in Chattogram while taking Tk20, 000 as bribe from a service seeker on September 4.
Md Shaidul Alam, the surveyor, was detained around 8pm from his resident, confirmed Lutful Kabir Chandan, deputy director of ACC Chattogram circle at a press briefing.
“The land surveyor demanded Tk70, 000 from a service seeker for providing him a digital khatian (Record of Rights). However, agreeing to pay Tk20, 000 in advance, the service seeker informed ACC about it, said the ACC official.
“During the transaction an ACC team caught him red-handed with the bribe money at his home,” he said.
A case against Shahidul will be filed soon, he added.
