Newly married bride gang-raped, case filed
She kept the matter secret at first for fear of public embarrassment
A newly married bride has been gang-raped by four miscreants. A case has also been filed at Patiya police station in Chattogram over the incident.
The four alleged rapists in the case are Hannan 32, son of late Abul Hossain of Kolagaon Union, Montu 30, son of Badsha Miah of the same union, Jewel, 28, son of Forkan Majhi and Mintu 26, son of Sattar.
The case statement mentions that the four accused used to harass the victim Farida (pseudonym) at different times even before marriage.
Just three days after the wedding, the 19-year-old bride was on her way to her father-in-law's house with her husband when the four miscreants blocked the way, detained her husband and raped Farida in front of him.
This cruel incident took place on June 6 in Barua Para of Kolagaon Union No 4 of Patiya upazila in Chattogram.
When the news of the incident spread, the victim appeared at the Patiya police station on June 14, a week after the incident and filed a case naming four 'rapists'.
In the statement of the case, the bride said that the rapist attacked them around 8:45 pm and raped her in front of her husband while restraining him. Later around 12 o'clock the rapists left them there and left.
She further mentioned in the statement of the case that she kept the matter secret at first for fear of public embarrassment. Later, when the matter came to light in public, she filed the case on the advice of her relatives.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Patiya Police Station, Borhan Uddin, said a case has been filed in this regard and legal action is in process.
The plaintiff has been sent to Chattogram for forensic tests, he added.
