Youth confesses to murdering sister’s beloved
After burying Mamun's body on May 6, his mother Anwara Begum filed a case with Tangail Sadar Police Station
A youth in Tangail has confessed in court to killing his sister's beloved and dumping the man's body in the Lauhajang River next to his house.
The arrestee Mahim, 19, said this in his confessional statement at the Tangail Judicial Magistrate's Court.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Rupam Kumar Das recorded Mahim's statement on Thursday afternoon and later in the evening, he was sent to Tangail Jail.
According to police, Abdullah Al Mamun, 18 – son of Rashedul Islam, a resident of Kagmari area of the city and a police constable in Dhaka – went missing on the evening of April 30.
Mamun went to Mahim's house when called to retrieve a phone that Mamun had bought for his beloved, after which he went missing.
Later, on the evening of May 5, Mamun's body floated up from the Lauhajang River. Upon receiving the news, the police and fire service personnel recovered the body.
Police arrested Mahim, his mother and sister soon after recovering the body.

Tangail Sadar Police Officer-in-Charge Mir Mosharraf Hossain said Mahim confessed, during preliminary interrogation, to stabbing Mamun with a knife and dumping his body in the river.
