Youth shot dead by ‘Rohingya criminal’ in Cox’s Bazar
Panic spread among locals in Teknaf and Nayapara Rohingya camp after the incident
A young man was shot dead allegedly by Rohingya criminal in Shalbagan Nayapara area of Teknaf's Hnila union on Thursday morning on suspicion of being a source of Rapid Action Battalion.
The deceased was Md Abdu Shukkur, 28, resident of the area.
"A police team was sent to the spot at around 11:30am after receiving information from locals," Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Teknaf Police Station, Hafizur Rahman said after confirming the matter.
Hnila Union Chairman Rashed Ali said, "The chief of a Rohingya criminal group, Zakir Bahini, shot Abdu in daylight around 11am on suspicion of being a RAB source."
Panic spread among locals in Teknaf and Nayapara Rohingya camp after the incident, he further added.
However, according to police, it is yet not clear why they killed Abdu and who else was involved in the incident.
