Police constable commits suicide after mother, brother’s death
Police found the constable’s body in his own residence in Gazipur.
A police constable committed suicide by slitting his own throat as he apparently could not bear the grief of his mother and brother's death.
The police found the constable's body in his own residence in Gazipur.
The deceased's name is Rabiul Awal. He hailed from West Bilashpur of Gazipur. He was son of a freedom fighter Abdul Jalil.
Rabiul worked as a constable in Kishoreganj Police Line.
Md Alamgir Bhuiyan, officer in charge (OC) of Gazipur Sadar Police station, said Rabiul lost his mental balance after consecutive deaths of his elder brother and mother. Both of them died of heart attacks.
OC Alamgir said, "Rabiul took leave from his workstation twice to get treatment for his mental health. He did not rejoin his duty for a long time after his leaves ended."
"Rabiul, his father and his brother went to Kishoreganj on Wednesday morning after receiving a letter to join the workplace. But he was not able to join the workplace as he was not completely healthy," he added.
Jahirul Islam, Sergeant Inspector (SI) of Gazipur Sadar Police station said, "Rabiul entered into his room after he came home from Kishoreganj."
"After a long time, people in his house informed police as they did not get any response from him. Upon receiving the news, the police of Sadar police station recovered a blood-stained sickle and the bloodied body of Rabiul from the spot," SI Jahirul said.
OC Alamgir said, "We think that Rabiul committed suicide, not being able to bear the grief of the deaths of his mother and brother."
Rabiul's body has been sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
