Doctor dies of electrocution in Dhaka
Palash came into contact with a live electric wire running through a waterlogged road
A doctor died on Wednesday of electrocution while trying to cross a flooded street in the capital.
The victim Palash Dey, 27, was walking along Green Road in Dhaka to run some errands. The road was submerged with water due to torrential rain.
At one point he came into contact with a live electric wire running through the waterlogged road and consequently lost his consciousness on the spot.
He was taken to the Crescent Gastroliver & General Hospital in the city around 4:30pm in critical condition. Later, the on-duty doctor declared him dead on arrival, confirmed Tauhidur Rahman, administrative officer of the hospital.
Palash was a medical officer at the ICU department of Green Life Medical College Hospital in Dhaka. He graduated from Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in Bogura and lived in the Green Road area.
