DU teacher degraded from post for irregularities in DUCSU election
The decision was taken in a syndicate meeting with DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman in the chair on Monday
The Dhaka University administration on Monday degraded a teacher from associate professor to assistant professor for her involvement in irregularities during the Dhaka University Central Students Union (DUCSU) election.
Shabnam Jahan, former acting provost of Kuwait Moitree Hall was degraded from her post for being involved in the irregularities that took place during the DUCSU and hall elections last year.
The decision was taken in a syndicate meeting with Vice-Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman in the chair on Monday.
The syndicate also served show cause notice to other two house tutors as to why they would not be punished for their alleged involvement in irregularities.
Professor Akhtaruzzaman told The Business Standard that the university degraded Shabnam Jahan after her involvement in the election irregularities was proved.
The university formed a probe committee headed by Professor Khondoker Bazlul Haque after founding casting ballot box in a room of the hall.
Later, the syndicate suspend her temporarily.
