He requested everyone not to spread false news about Evaly before government authorities conclude their investigation into the matter
Evaly Managing Director Mohammad Rassel has said that all allegations against his company are false.
He made the claim during a Facebook Live stream from his personal account on Friday night.
On the live video, Rassel requested everyone not to spread false news or rumours about Evaly before government authorities conclude their investigation into the matter.
"You are damaging the reputation of not only me or the organisation but also the stakeholders, sellers and customers," he said in tears.
Rassel also assured every Evaly customer with existing orders that none of their orders will go missing.
"We will complete each of the orders one-by-one. We will be able to recover from this crisis if you [our customers] support us," he said.
Throughout the 40-minute-long Facebook Live, the Evaly MD claimed multiple times that the allegations are fake and he never had a bad intention.
At the end of the video, Rassel mentioned that Evaly currently has 700 employees and 3,000 riders. He added that he will do another livestream.
"The spreading of negative news about Evaly before the government investigation [has concluded] might break our dreams of leading the country's e-commerce market," he said before concluding the video.
On Thursday, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), under the Bangladesh Bank, ordered all commercial banks to freeze the bank accounts of e-commerce platform Evaly, its Chairman Shamima Nasrin and Managing Director Md Rasel for the next 30 days under the Anti-Money Laundering law.
The intelligence unit also asked the banks concerned to submit all documents related to transactions through the accounts within the next five days.
Evaly came under discussion after several media reports were made about irregularities with Evaly's transactions and numerous complaints about it not delivering products to its customers in a timely manner; even after advance payments were made.
