Fire at Banani building doused
The building authorities managed to douse the fire within 35 minutes it broke out at Banani's Ahmed Tower today.
The fire originated on the 14th floor of the 22-storey building at 11:34am and on information eight firefighting units rushed to the spot, said Fire Service control room duty officer Ershad Hossain.
Source in Ahmed Tower authorities said, the fire originated from short circuit while servicing air conditioner on the floor. They managed to douse the blaze with their own fire extinguishing system before the fire officials reached the spot. They also broke all window glasses of the floor so that the smoke can belch out and took initiative for safe passage of the people working on the floor.
The tenants of the building have been instructed to have their ACs checked after every three months, the source added.
