Govt to take actions against spreading propaganda on social media
It was seen that false, fabricated, misleading and instigating statements regarding the government, public representatives, army officials, policemen and members of other law enforcement agencies are being circulated on social media, read a press statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs
The government has decided to take legal actions against those who are engaged in circulating propaganda on social media platforms from home and abroad.
The Ministry of Home Affairs revealed the government's decision through a press release on Tuesday.
They said the decision has been made in a bid to "maintain stability, law and order in the country as well as uphold the public interest".
The release also said it was seen that false, fabricated, misleading and instigating statements regarding the government, public representatives, army officials, policemen and members of other law enforcement agencies are being circulated on social media.
Besides, false and baseless information is being spread with a view to misguiding the security forces.
Such activities have put the prevailing peaceful environment of the country in jeopardy, the release added.
