2.50 crore people suffer from malnutrition
To ensure nutritious food for all, implementation of food security law is a must, speakers told a conference on Wednesday
At present, an estimated 2.50 crore people in Bangladesh are suffering from malnutrition. Seven lakh of them joined the list in last 10 years.
To ensure nutritious food, a basic right of all citizens, implementation of the food security law is a must.
Speakers made the remarks at the inaugural session of the Right to Food and Nutrition National Conference 2019 in the capital's Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh on Wednesday.
Right to Food Bangladesh and Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Chairman Dr Kazi Khaliquzzaman Ahmed presided over the session.
The speakers said the number of poor people has not decreased at a mentionable rate though the reduction of poverty rate and food security has sped up due to gradual economic and social progress. The country has a good food policy but it is not being implemented properly.
They further said farmers are being deprived of fair price of their produce.
