Govt forms committee to set service price list for private hospitals
In the next two months, the committee will submit a report with recommendations
The Ministry of Health has formed a committee to set the service price list, category and standardisation of medical equipment of private hospitals, diagnostic centres and clinics across the country.
A letter on 8 December, signed by Umme Habiba, senior secretary of the health ministry, announced the matter.
A 10-member committee has been formed with the secretary of the health services department, additional director general (administration) of the health department and president of the Bangladesh Private Clinic and Diagnostic Owners Association.
In the next two months, the committee will submit a report with recommendations on service price lists, categories and the standardisation of medical equipment in private hospitals, diagnostic centers and clinics across the country.
Previously, on 18 November, a review meeting was held at the health ministry on the services of private hospitals, diagnostic centers and clinics.
At that meeting, professor AKM Khurshid Alam, the director general of the Department of Health, said that private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres should have a fee fixed by the government.
Mentioning that the service cost varies from standard clinic to equipment, he emphasised the importance of setting the price and category of hospital services through the formation of committees.
