Hospitals struggle as diarrhoea cases rise in Chuadanga
Diarrheoa cases are on the rise in the district due to extreme heat.
The number of dirarrhoea patients is increasing in Chuadanga, and hospitals are struggling to accommodate them.
At least one hundred diarrheoa patients were admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital in the last two days.
The patients are, however, staying in the verandas and under staircases due to a shortage of beds in the diarrheoa ward of the hospital.
Diarrheoa cases are on the rise in the district due to extreme heat.
Sources said some 48 diarrheoa patients were admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital in the last 24 hours. Another 19 patients were admitted to the health complexes in Alamdanga, Damurhuda and Jibannagar upazilas.
Chuadanga Sadar Hospital’s Medical Officer Dr Shamim Kabir said, “People of all ages are suffering from diarrhoea due to the high temperature.”
The hospital authorities are stocking saline as the heavy rush of patients might cause a shortage of it, said Shamim.
