BCB to stand by Shakib: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will support Shakib Al Hasan as they did always.

"International Cricket Council will decide about Shakib Al Hasan, I have nothing to do much with it," she said while briefing media at Ganobhaban on her just concluded Azerbaijan tour for attending the 18th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

Shakib had been reportedly approached by a bookie two years ago. According to the rules of the ICC, he was supposed to report it, but he did not do so.

Asked about recent anti-gambling and anti-graft raids, the premier said: "No one is spared during the raids regardless the relation or political connections, so it is not an eyewash."
