Interviewee ‘gang raped’ in Dhaka
The victim - a student of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology has filed a case
A female university student was allegedly gang raped when she appeared in an interview on Tuesday in the capital.
The woman -- a student of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology -- filed a case in this regard with Sher-E-Bangla Nagar Police Station on Thursday night around 1am.
According to the victim, she appeared in an interview at the office of Health Vision, located at a building in Sher-E-Bangla Nagar area, responding to a circular posted on Facebook.
“She was served soft drink laced with narcotics and raped by 3-4 people after losing consciousness,” alleged Mahiuddin Rony, a relative of the victim.
In this connection, Fahim Ahmed Foyez, 30, an accused, was arrested, said Jane Alam Munshi, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sher-E-Bangla Nagar Police Station.
“The police are trying to arrest another accused Nahid,” he added.
“The police will present Foyez before a court on Thursday and seek a 7-day remand for interrogation. We have collected evidence related to the incident and preparation is being taken for a medical exam of the victim,” the OC told The Business Standard.
