Library-selling man turns out to be a pervert!
“Come close to me. Come, let me show you my bedroom. We are all alone here,” 64-year-old Gokul Chandra Das told our correspondent on Wednesday when she went to interview him
He said she had come at a time when he was very lonely, and that she had awakened his suppressed sexual desires.
"Come close to me. Come, let me show you my bedroom. We are all alone here," 64-year-old Gokul Chandra Das told our correspondent on Wednesday when she went to interview him.
Earlier on October 14, BBC Bangla ran a story glorifying a 64-year-old man who wanted to sell off his personal library as he was going through financial troubles.
After placing an advertisement on a local newspaper, Gokul went viral on social media and his situation was discussed with sympathy among netizens.
Moved by his story, The Business Standard also arranged an interview with this man.
However, during that interview, Gokul – a married man, a father and a grandfather – revealed his dark side.
As the interview progressed, so did Gokul's perversion.
"Can I ask you a question," Gokul asked our correspondent during the end of the interview, to which our unsuspecting correspondent replied yes.
The conversation that followed was disturbing.
"Will you marry me?" asked the retired school teacher. The question caught our correspondent off-guard, who, according to Gokul's own description, was younger than his youngest daughter.
"Why would you ask me such a question?" our correspondent asked. His defence for this inappropriate behaviour was that he had been sexually inactive for the last 20 years.
Alarmed, our correspondent tried to leave, but Gokul stood between her and the doorway, blocking her path. "I need to go to the office now, please let me leave," our correspondent pleaded, while frantically dialling her colleagues on the phone.
Gokul said he would not let her leave. "You cannot leave. You will have to stay with me today."
When her boss answered the phone, she said, "Bhai, I am here for the interview. The man [Gokul] is harassing me and he won't let me leave."
She then handed over the phone to Gokul, who was then asked to leave our correspondent alone and told that the police were on their way to his apartment.
Finally, Gokul opened the door and let her out.
The Business Standard authorities have lodged a complaint with Dhanmandi police station over the incident.
