Reshma started her journey of mountaineering by climbing the peak of Keokradong hill in Bangladesh in 2016
Mountaineer Reshma Nahar Ratna, 33, has been killed in a road accident on the Lake Road adjacent to the Chandrima Uddyan in Dhaka today morning.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Sub-Inspector of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station Md Ibrahim said, "A private car hit her from behind while she was cycling in the morning near the Uddyan. She may have died at the spot."
"Later police got informed and took her to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital where the doctor declared her dead," he added.
Reshma was a teacher of Ayub Ali Government Primary School in Dhaka. She started her journey of mountaineering by climbing the peak of Keokradong hill in Bangladesh in 2016.
In 2019, Reshma successfully summited two mountains named Stok Kanri (6153 meter) on August 24 and Kang Yatse -2 (6250 meter) on August 30 in Ladakh, India where she carried the national flag of Bangladesh and Logo of Modhumoti Bank.
She also participated in the expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa, and Mount Kenya, the second-highest of the continent in 2018.
