National Youth Conference on Food Right held
Youths demanded multi-dimensional steps based on purchase power and supply before it’s too late to prevent food insecurity risk in the country
The National Youth Conference on Food Right-2020 was held virtually on Thursday, read a press release.
The programme was jointly organised by Dhrubatara Youth Development Foundation and Food Security Network-Khani.
Hundreds of youth from different parts of Bangladesh participated in this online conference.
Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder joined the conference as chief guest.
Secretary of Food Ministry Nazmanara Khanam, lawmaker Aroma Dutta, Shirin Akter, Fakhrul Islam and Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu were present as guests of honor at this programme.
Secretary of Khani Bangladesh Masud Nurul Islam, Vice President Rezaul Karim Siddique, Executive Director of Dhrubatara Youth Development Foundation Amiyo Prapon Chakrabarty and Director of Policy and Administration Kazi Salman Hossain also participated in the programme.
As an agriculture based country, the present situation of food right and security in Bangladesh, liability and reformation of the law were discussed at the conference.
Youths demanded multi-dimensional steps based on purchase power and supply before it's too late to prevent food insecurity risk in the country.
Participants also called for sufficiency of food as a basic right, development of farmers, guidelines for ensuring fair price, enough support for neo-poor in the era of Covid-19, recognition of female farmers, the participation of youths in building Bangladesh and investment support.
