Now Chattogram education officer suspected as child kidnapper during inspection
An education officer became the latest victim of mob suspicion as child kidnapper when he went to inspect a school in Chattogram on Thursday.
Guardians of Uttar Kattali Munshipara Government Primary School held ADPO of Chattogram Primary Education Department Tapash Pal suspecting that he was a kidnapper.
Awami League leader Abu Sufyan, also a witness and a guardian, called the officer-in-charge of Pahartali police station to handle the situation.
Later, Tapash Pal was rescued by the police.
North Kattali ward Councillor Dr Nesar Uddin Ahmed Manju said: “Locals should not take the law into their own hands, they should rather call the police.”
Two such incidents took place in Chattogram city over the past week.
A number of people have been victims of such suspicion in the past few days across the country – eight of them were brutally killed in mob beating. The suspicion is rooted in the rumour that human heads and blood are required for the piling work of the Padma Bridge.
Law enforcers are observing a rumour prevention week to create awareness among people across the country about false news spreading through the Internet and other media.
