Body of the late State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Md Abdullah is being taken to Gopalganj.
Public relations officer of the ministry Md Anwar Hossain said Sheikh Md Abdullah will be buried in Gopalganj after namaz-e-Janaza, Somoy TV reported.
Minister Sheikh Md Abdullah died on Saturday at 11.45 pm. His personal secretary Khandkar Yasir Arefin said he died minutes after he was taken to Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
Awami League Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua said today that the minister was infected with Covid-19.
The minister's family members and political workers crowded over his government residence at the capital's Baily Road in the morning.
The death of the state minister has cast a shadow of mourning over his birthplace Gopalganj. His family members and local Awami League leaders has gathered to his home at Kekania village of Gopalgang Sadar upazila.
Abdullah, a central leader of the Ruling Awami League, had been serving as a technocrat state minister.
He was born at Kekania village of Gopalganj on September 8, 1945.
