Mohila AL leader Sahan Ara Begum laid to rest

Sahan Ara Begum, central leader of Bangladesh Mohila Awami League (AL), was laid to eternal rest with state honours at the Muslim cemetery in Barishal early this morning.
She died of cardiac arrest at 11:30 pm on Sunday in the capital's Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital.
Sahan Ara, wife of Abul Hasnat, parliament member from Barishal-1 constituency, was 72 years old.
She survived by her husband, three sons and one daughter.
Sahan Ara, mother of Barishal City Mayor Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah, was an eyewitness of the brutal murders on August 15, 1975.
She was also a cultural activist and a social worker.
PM mourns her death
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday expressed deep shock and sorrow over her demise.
The premier prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
