One held for attempted rape in Mymensingh
Police said that Alam fled the clinic while Babul tried to resolve the issue with the women
The owner of a private clinic in Mymensingh city was arrested on Sunday for helping an alleged perpetrator of a rape attempt to escape. The perpetrator, manager of the clinic, allegedly attempted to rape a Garo woman at the clinic the same day.
Police detained Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Babul, owner of Padma General Private Hospital in the Brahmapalli area of the city. He was picked up after the victim filed a case at Kotowali Model Police Station against Babul and Manager Sohel Rana Alam soon after the incident took place.
According to the police, five women, including the victim, went to the clinic in response to job offers for the position of nurse. Alam took the victim to the operating room on the pretext of explaining her duties to her there, then allegedly tried to rape her. The other girls realized the bad intention of the manager and protested instantly.
Police said that Alam fled the clinic while Babul tried to resolve the issue with the women.
Confirming the incident, Acting Officer in Charge of the police station, Mahmud Islam, said they detained the owner of the clinic for aiding and abetting Alam in his escape.
He added that the police are still searching for Alam in order to arrest him.
