Orion textiles signs PPP deal with BTMC

The Orion Quaderia Textiles Ltd on Sunday signed a Public Private Partnership (PPP) contract with Bangladesh Textile Mill Corporation (BTMC) to gradually reopen all closed textile manufacturing units of the company.
Salman Obaidul Karim, Managing Director of Orion Quaderia Textiles, and Brig Gen Mohammad Karmuzzaman, Chairperson of BTMC, signed the deal on behalf of their respective organizations at a ceremony, held at Radisson Blue Water Garden in Dhaka.
Attending the program as the chief guest, Minister of Textiles and Jute Golam Dastagir Gazi said that Bangladesh is the first country in the world to take on an initiative to reopen all closed textile mills via PPP contracts with individual textile manufacturing companies of the country.
Brig Gen Muhammad Kamruzzaman said that sixteen out of twenty five mills will be reopened and renovated through the PPP deal.
Salman Obaidul Karim said that they will start working on the project as soon as they get the required land.
Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee Mirza Azam MP, Principal Coordinator of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Affairs Abul Kamal Azad, and Secretary of Textile and Jute Ministry Rina Parveen attended the ceremony, among many others.
