Over 1,000 shanties gutted in Mirpur slum fire
Twenty firefighting units rushed in and and doused the blaze at around 10:15pm.
More than 1,000 shanties were gutted as a devastating fire ripped through a slum in Dhaka's Mirpur-7 on Friday evening.
Fire Service Control Room Duty Officer Ershad said the fire originated at Arambagh Slum near Rupnagar at around 7:20pm and spread rapidly.
Twenty firefighting units rushed in and doused the fire at around 10:15pm, said Fire Service Deputy Director Debashish Bardhan.
The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.
