Police strengthen campaign against dengue across Bangladesh
Regular cleanliness operations being launched to destroy Aedes mosquito breeding grounds
Dengue awareness campaigns have been strengthened by every the police unit throughout Bangladesh to combat the mosquito-borne disease, as per the directive of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Javed Patwary.
Police officials are conducting regular cleanliness operations along with other measures to destroy Aedes mosquito breeding grounds in different parts of the country.
Many people are also volunteering to engage in these campaigns after police authorities conducted public service announcements through loudspeakers and distributed leaflets.
On August 5, the IGP ordered all metropolitan police commissioners, range DIGs, and superintendents of police through a video conference to strengthen the ongoing dengue awareness programme.
He urged officials concerned to publish and distribute leaflets on dengue awareness among various police units.
The IGP said that the dengue infections can only be defeated with a collective effort and the campaign will continue until the dengue outbreak is over.
