Govt does not let anyone have a different opinion: Moazzem Hossain Alal
He said this while addressing a demonstration rally held in Brahmanbaria protesting the rising prices of everyday essentials, and demanding release of the imprisoned BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia
Bangladesh Nationalist Party's Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal on Saturday said they would continue speaking out against the government even if they are arrested for this.
Raising voice against any wrongdoing of the government is their right as citizens of the country, he added.
"The present government does not let anyone have a different opinion. Universities have been turned into torture cells. Is it a crime to raise voice against these things?" he said.
Alal came up with these remarks while addressing a demonstration rally in Brahmanbaria town. The rally was held protesting the rising prices of everyday essentials, and demanding release of the imprisoned BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
However, the rally was cut short due to interference from police, and only Alal could deliver a brief speech there.
Speaking against the unusual rise in onion prices, he said, "We have to understand that there is no law on human needs. So we will speak against this government."
Senior BNP leaders Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan MP, Abdul Awal, and Hafizur Rahman Molla were also present at the rally, among others.
