Rajshahi awarded eco-friendly city of the year
Rajshahi has already earned global reputation for rapidly reducing harmful particles in its air
Rajshahi has got the "Environment Friendly City of the Year 2020" award for its green look and clean air.
The award was given on Saturday at the Channel i Prokriti Mela, a joint arrangement by Prokriti O Jibon Foundation - working on environment - and private TV channel Channel i.
The 10th edition of the fair is being organised this year on the premises of Channel i in Dhaka.
Information Minister Hasan Mahmud handed over the medal to Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton. Chairman of Prokriti O Jibon Mukit Majumder Babu and other distinguished guests were also present at the event.
Rajshahi City Corporation authorities said this achievement is a result of their long-term planning for urban development and their adoption of Zero Soil Project.
Rajshahi, a tranquil northern city of Bangladesh situated by the Padma River, has already earned global reputation for rapidly reducing harmful particles in its air.
