TCB starts selling onion in Rajshahi
The onions are being sold for Tk45 per kg
Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has started selling onion at five points in Rajshahi city since Sunday morning.
Due to the transport protest, they could not start selling the onions on Saturday. Large crowds have gathered at the points to buy the onions. The onions are being sold for Tk45 per kg.
Head of Rajshahi Regional Office of the corporation, Pratap Kumar, said, "The onions are being sold with police guarding them. One thousand kg will be sold at one point per day. That means five thousand kg of onion will be sold at the five points. A person can buy one kg of onion."
He also said that the onions are being sold at Shaheb bazar Zeropoint, Court area, Bhadra Mor, Railgate and Amchattar areas of the city. TCB will regularly monitor local dealers to prevent irregularities. They will continue to sell onions until the onion price is stable.
On Saturday, local onions were sold at the retail markets of the city for Tk150-180. The imported onions were sold for Tk140-150.
