TIB for more allocation to tackle climate change effects
”However, the government has granted only $1.13 billion for this fiscal year,” he said
Anti-graft body Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has called for increasing annual allocation for fighting the adverse effects of climate change.
TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman on Wednesday said that an annual allocation of at least $2.2 billion was needed in this sector.
“However, the government has granted only $1.13 billion for this fiscal year,” he said at a press briefing at Midas Centre in the capital.
He also said that disaster-prone areas should be identified first to manage the situation better.
“Also, people who are vulnerable to climate change effects are not getting enough money due to the unplanned allocation of funds,” added Iftekharuzzaman.
