Two die after drinking alcohol in Narsingdi
Both of them died on their way to hospitals
Two young men died after drinking locally-made alcohol in Narsingdi's Shibpur upazila on Saturday.
They are Shakil Miah, 23, son of Asad Miah of Daripara area, and Sumon Miah, 24, son of Kabir Miah of Baghab area in the upazila.
The two drank liquor together at Shimultoli Bazar area on Thursday, said Molla Azizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Shibpur Model Police Station.
When Sumon complained of stomach ache on Saturday evening, family members rushed him to hospital. He breathed his last on the way to hospital, according to police and locals.
Shakil was taken to Narsingdi District Hospital as he was also feeling the same in his stomach. After giving primary treatment, doctors suggested that he be taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Shakil died on the way to Dhaka.
His elder sister Shahnur Begum said, "The two men had been sleeping for two days at our home. Suddenly, Sumon started feeling stomach pain and died on the way to hospital. We do not know the reason for the pain."
The bodies were sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, said the officer-in-charge.
