UN Secretary General congratulates Bangladesh on LDC graduation
The United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has congratulated Bangladesh on graduating from the Least Development Country (LDC) status.
He congratulated Bangladesh in a video message saying the transition as a developing country is a milestone for Bangladesh.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak recently posted the video message on his Facebook page.
The UN Secretary General said, "I am delighted that Bangladesh has fulfilled the criteria for graduating from the least developed nations. This is a sign that the country is building an inclusive and thriving economy. "
He also added that the country is working to establish an inclusive and growing economy with a commitment to alleviate poverty and hunger for millions of people.
Appreciating Bangladesh for its empowerment of women and expansion of their educational opportunities, Antonio Guterres said, "Strong leadership will be crucial for Bangladesh to become a middle-income country and implement 2030 agenda for sustainable development."
The UN Secretary General reiterated that UN cooperation with Bangladesh will continue.
