Brac Bank hosts ‘Marathon for Humanity’
The event made a total of Tk69 lakh, which was distributed to a number of charitable organisations
The employees of Brac Bank on Friday organised their annual mini-marathon "Brac Bank DOUR-2020" at Hatirjheel.
With "Marathon for Humanity" as its slogan, the event raised Tk34.5 lakh in funds, which the bank then doubled to Tk69 lakh from its corporate social responsibility fund.
The entire fund was donated to charitable organisations, including Sufia Khatun Foundation, Kidney Foundation Sylhet, Society for Welfare of Autistic Children, Kristi, Deepshikha School, Spreeha Bangladesh Foundation, Moyeen Foundation, Changing Diabetes in Children Programme of BIRDEM Hospital and Child and Old Age Care.
Planning Minister MA Mannan was the chief guest on the occasion, while the prime minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim also attended it.
More than 4,000 employees of Brac Bank, its subsidiaries and other corporate organisations took part in the mini-marathon which began from the Police Plaza Point of Hatirjheel at 7am.
It ended at the same point after runners covered 5.5 kilometers.
Brac Bank Managing Director and CEO Selim RF Hussain said, "DOUR is an amazing example of an employee-driven CSR initiative. We strongly believe that together, we can make a difference."
Among others Brack Bank Deputy Managing Director and CRO Chowdhury Akhtar Asif, Deputy Managing Director and COO Md Sabbir Hossain, and Deputy Managing Director and CFO M Masud Rana, also participated in the event.
Actor Afzal Hossain, actress Bidya Sinha Mim, singer Tahsan Rahman Khan, model and actress Afsana Ara Bindu also joined the mini-marathon
