imo launches campaign to promote socio-economic progress in Bangladesh
Online messaging platform imo has launched #CelebrateLifeTogether campaign to inspire socio-economic progress in Bangladesh.
As the very first campaign of the current year, the campaign will feature a series of videos profiling imo users who have improved their lives and achieved their dreams through the app, said a press release.
The campaign encourages people from all walks of life to share their inspiring stories and celebrate their lives with imo.
The first story released has been released on Sunday, featuring a 26-year-old girl – Megha - who has found her passion and reinvented her career through imo.
The video can be watched on YouTube. More episodes with different themes will be released in the coming months.
During Covid-19 pandemic when many people lost their jobs, Megha earned an average of $3,000 per month through imo. She never thought that she would be making money through the app when she joined the platform. Initially, one of her friends invited her to join a couple of imo groups.
The turning point came when she joined a particular group related to education. She found it captivating to learn new things there every day. She then decided to become one of the first imo hosts.
As of now, Megha manages 75 chat groups and actively operates them every day.
Her largest group has more than 78,000 members, and the smallest one includes 22,000 members. She has also inspired many others to join her and helped them create and manage their own groups.
"I would not limit imo only to an app used for calling or messaging," said Megha.
"Rather I would say there are endless possibilities in the app. It has helped me earn my livelihood, and I believe it has the power to enable more people to change their lives, especially for women and homemakers who are usually confined within the boundaries of their households."

In 2020, imo hit a record level of usage in Bangladesh in terms of instant communication. 96.8 billion messages and 26 billion audio and video calls were made through imo by Bangladeshi users.
