The twelfth episode of IPDC Ogroj, organised by IPDC Finance, has shed light on the life and achievements of Ekushey Padak awardee Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad.
Ogroj host Anis A Khan had an in-depth conversation with Dr Qazi, a leading actor in developing the economy and social areas of Bangladesh.
Born in Sylhet district, Qazi completed his MA in Economics at Dhaka University and his PhD in the same subject at the London School of Economics, read a press release on Saturday.
He also holds a PhD in political science from the University of London, it added.
Participating in the Liberation War of Bangladesh, Qazi was involved in the planning cell of the Mujibnagar government.
Currently, Qazi Kholiquzzaman is the chairman of Governing Council of the Dhaka School of Economics (DScE), a constituent institution of Dhaka University and is devoted to both post-graduate and undergraduate studies in economics and related subjects.
He is also the chairman of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), founding chairman of the Bangladesh Development Council and former president of the Bangladesh Economic Association.
As the vice-chairman of the National Education Policy 2010 Formulation Committee, he has made significant contributions to formulating the country's current education policy. He has written and edited 40 books on various subjects and more than 250 articles, including research reports.
In recognition of his remarkable contributions to poverty alleviation and social service, Dr Qazi was awarded the Ekushey Padak and the Independence Award.
