Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall of Chittagong University (CU) has been selected to be used as a quarantine centre for the Chattagram Northern District.
Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Shireen Akter confirmed the matter on Tuesday afternoon.
However, university staffs and officials and teachers are worried that the quarantine centre will be put them at high risk of coronavirus.
CU vice-chancellor said that the decision comes following a government order.
"We agreed to make the hall as quarantine centre on some conditions. It has been informed by the district administration of Chattogram that the Bangladesh Army will be under its overall supervision. Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall is located on one side of the campus and it will be regularly sanitised. The army will oversee it so hopefully there will be no problem," Shireen Akter added.
