18 fined for breaking Covid-19 lockdown rules in Chattogram

A mobile court has fined 18 individuals and organizations for breaching novel coronavirus lockdown restrictions in North Kattoli of the Chattogram city.
Omar Faruk, executive magistrate of the district administration, on Wednesday, slapped them Tk8,800 fines in the first lockdown area of the port city.
The executive magistrate said although 10 areas were identified as 'Red Zones' in the port city, the local administration put North Kattali under lockdown from Today for the next 21 days. Residents were requested not to leave home. Shops of necessary goods, pharmacies remained shut there.
"During the drive, some were seen roaming in the area and kept their businesses open. Later, 18 people, including seven shopkeepers, were fined for breaching the lockdown rules," he added.
Additionally, 40 worshipers were seen performing prayers in a mosque. Later, Imam of the mosque was requested to follow the instructions of the Islamic Foundation, he added.
However, City Corporation, police, district administration and other service providers are providing essential services to the residents of the area.
