Some 48 members of police have tested positive for the Covid-19 in the last 24 hours
A total of 1,926 police personnel have tested positive for the novel coronavirus as of Wednesday. Among them, 907 are from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
Some 48 members of police have tested positive for the Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to sources at the police headquarters.
Besides field level officers, two additional deputy commissioners and one assistant commissioner contracted the Covid-19 in the DMP, according to the DMP source.
Until Wednesday, some 298 police personnel have recovered from the novel coronavirus. Around 4,961 police personnel are under home quarantine, while 1,159 others are in isolation.
Till now, seven policemen have died from the coronavirus. All of them were posted in the DMP.
The seven members are Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Raghunath Roy, ASI Sultanul Arefin, ASI Abdul Khaleque, Traffic Constable Ashek Mahmud, Constable Jasim Uddin and Constable Jalal Uddin Khoka.
Meanwhile, three more members of Fire Service and Civil Defense have tested positive with the novel coronavirus.
With these, 16 from the force tested positive with the virus so far.
