23 doctors, 19 staff of Mitford Hospital infected with coronavirus
Twenty-three doctors and 19 staff of Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital have been tested positive with the novel coronavirus.
Hospital Director Brigadier General Kazi Md Rashid Un Nabi confirmed the matter to The Business Standard today.
"On Thursday 12 and on Friday another 10 tested positive for coronavirus. Among them were 10 doctors and eight nurses from surgery and Gynae department. The next day, after collecting and testing samples of 69 health workers, the result came negative for all of them," Rashid Un Nabi said.
The director added, "One patient was admitted at the hospital hiding medical history. After the patient tested positive, we tested all doctors and nurses, who came into contact. Then also tested everyone, who came in contact with them."
"Many are undergoing treatment at home and at the hospital. We are having problems with the management of the hospital, due to such a manpower shortage. I reported the matter to the Department of Health," he added.
On Sunday, 13 doctors and seven nurses tested positive for coronavirus making a total of 42 health workers.
