Patient admission should start a few days – after some ancillary work is completed
A 250-bed isolation centre was inaugurated in Chattogram on Saturday afternoon.
Information Minister Hasan Mahmud inaugurated the isolation centre at the City Convention Center in the Halishahar area of Chattogram city.
Chattogram City Corporation (CHC) has made the community center suitable for novel coronavirus treatment in a short period of time in collaboration with Seekam Group.
"We will not be able to move around in the way we used to before the outbreak of the novel coronavirus because it will be difficult for us to protect people from the virus even if we keep the hospital ready and build more isolation centers. Remember, protection is in your hands," Dr. Hassan Mahmoud said at the opening ceremony.
He also said, "More than four thousand patients have already tested positive for Covid-19 in Chattogram. In the beginning there was a large crisis in Chattogram city regarding treating novel coronavirus patients. It is not that the crisis is over yet – there remains a crisis. However, under the direction of the Prime Minister, the daughter of Bangabandhu, we have tried from the beginning to motivate various hospitals and to expand and improve government management."
"We will work, keeping ourselves healthy and safe as per the advice of the doctors – only then will our joint efforts be able to deal with this epidemic," the minister added.
All preparations have already been completed. Beds, mattresses, bed sheets, pillows, baskets, etc. have been arranged. A small medicine box has been provided with each bed. Fifty new oxygen cylinders and ancillary medical equipment have been procured, he added.
